Meet Our Ambassadors: Ruben Padilla
Ruben Padilla is considered a trampoline gymnastics powerhouse, and with Bagjump airbags, he takes his skills to the next level.
Ruben Padilla is not only one of the most exciting athletes in trampoline gymnastics right now, but also someone who understands what progression really means. As our newest brand ambassador, Ruben knows that the secret in gymnastics is not just about adding difficulty. It’s about creating an environment where trying something new feels natural.
That’s what makes his ambassadorship with Bagjump more than just another athlete collaboration. It’s a natural fit for someone who knows what is needed to push boundaries.
Confidence Is What Unlocks Progression
In gymnastics, hesitation is often the biggest barrier. It’s not that athletes don’t have the physical ability. It’s that one moment of doubt can stop everything.
That hesitation usually comes from one place: fear of the landing. Fear of missing the rotation, landing off balance, or putting too much strain on the body.
With Bagjump, some of these fears feel controlled. Ruben explained to us what exactly is meant by that:
“Just having the ability to break a skill down and do it more basic or do it as a drill or something to my back without the fear of landing back on the trampoline. That definitely makes it a lot easier to attempt new skills, as well as kind of push myself in a way where, with the Bagjump, I feel more confident going for new skills.”

The First Experience Says More Than Any Explanation
There are a lot of ways to describe quality, but in the end, none of them matter as much as the first real experience. Professional athletes don’t need a breakdown of materials or construction to understand the difference. They feel it the moment they land—or not.
Athletes like Ruben are used to training on many different types of airbags and foam pits, so when they try a new landing surface, they can immediately tell if the product delivers what it promises or not.
For Ruben, that decision was immediate. During our conversation, he told us:
“I’ve been on other airbags at other gyms and training camps, and I definitely noticed a big difference from Bagjump. My very first immpression. It was a better material for sure.”
That difference might sound simple when you say it like that, but in practice at that level, it’s huge. When the material responds differently, the landing feels more controlled. This removes the need to second-guess the landing, which means more focus on the skill itself.
Training Without Limits Changes Everything
One of the biggest advantages Ruben highlights is the ability to break skills down and approach them differently. Instead of going straight into full difficulty, athletes can isolate parts of the movement, work on specific positions, and build the skill step by step.
This is especially important for high-level elements like multiple twisting triples. These are not skills you just attempt repeatedly on a hard surface. They require a controlled environment where mistakes don’t immediately lead to consequences.
Recovery Is Part of the Process
Progression in gymnastics is not linear. Injuries happen, and when they do, training often has to change completely. This is where the Bagjump becomes more than just a progression tool. It becomes part of the recovery process.
Ruben told us about the period when he had to be careful with his training load:
“I was kind of going through a little bit of an injury, and it was perfect for me to go to the airbag and do the skill to my back… Breaking the skills down and still being able to flip it kind of gave me another way of training without pushing myself to hurt myself more.”
Changing the Environment Inside the Gym
The impact of airbags is not limited to one athlete. It changes the entire training environment. Ruben mentioned how younger athletes in his gym are already benefiting from the airbags, using them to build confidence before transitioning onto the trampoline.
This is where the long-term value becomes clear. Younger gymnasts are introduced to skills in a safer, more controlled way. They learn movement patterns without fear, which sets a completely different foundation for their development.

A Partnership Built on Real Experience
For Ruben, becoming a Bagjump ambassador was not just about visibility. It was a decision based on what he experienced in training.
“It definitely felt like Bagjump was pushing quality, and I really, really appreciate that side of it because there are many companies out there that are just kind of like, ‘We’re just trying to get our name out there and we’re just trying to push things out.’ But with Bagjump, it really felt like it was high quality from day one.”
That focus on quality is something that connects both sides. It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing things right.
What Comes Next
Right now, Ruben is back in full training and building toward his next milestone: performing a full routine with ten triple elements. That’s a significant increase in difficulty and a clear sign of where he’s heading.
With the right environment, the right tools, and the confidence to push further, that goal is well within reach.
At the end of the day, athletes like Ruben don’t choose equipment based on trends or branding. They choose what actually helps them improve.
They choose what allows them to push further, train smarter, and feel confident every time they take off.
And when that happens, everything else follows.
